Dillon is proud to be a part of the John Peters Humphrey Sculpture Preservation project.
John Peters Humphrey was the principal author of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and in 1946 also became the Director of the UN’s Division of Human Rights. A wooden monument of his likeness as both an adult and child had been placed in the town square of his home in Hampton, New Brunswick, but years of weather exposure had taken its toll. The decision was made to preserve the sculpture in bronze and replace the wooden and sandstone bench with a stone one.
Dillon was a sponsor of the project and also completed the detailed design of the bench foundation and provided tendering and construction management for the bench structure and site restoration.
The updated John Peters Humphrey statue was unveiled Sunday, April 30, on what would have been his 118th birthday. "Preserving the legacy of John Peters Humphrey and his contributions to Human Rights around the world is central to the mission of the Foundation. The Credo is a place to gather, reflect and acknowledge our beautiful town and how we can advocate for the protection of human rights for all." - John Peters Humphrey Foundation
