Environmental Advisory Services for 1500 Plessis Road – Winnipeg, MB

Dillon was retained by the Park City Commons Joint Venture to develop a Remedial Action Plan (RAP) and apply a risk assessment and risk management approach to the brownfield redevelopment site located at 1500 Plessis Road in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Historically, the site was a City of Winnipeg Public Works Yard, used as an outdoor road salt/sand storage area. Prior to the development of a Remedial Action Plan, a risk management approach was developed to facilitate the majority of the salt impacted fill being able to remain on site. The potential environmental human health and ecological impacts will be managed through a combination of engineered capping and integration with hard surface design features for the site. The net result will be to provide a cost effective remedial/risk management strategy that allows the site to be redeveloped and brought back to beneficial reuse.

On behalf of the Park City Commons Joint Venture, Dillon applied for funding for the project through the Green Municipal Fund – Feasibility Studies and Pilot Projects provided by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM). The FCM provides grants to support environmentally sustainable municipal feasibility studies and pilot projects, which includes brownfield redevelopment projects.
