Sabkha al-Fasil Eco-Park – Saudi Arabia

Dillon was retained by the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu to prepare a 10% conceptual design for the planning of Sabkha al-Fasil Eco-Park in Jubail Industrial City (JIC), Saudi Arabia. The site was subject to a future Engineered Natural Treatment Wetland to the north and highlighted and expanded on existing native ecology. Site features included viewing towers, boardwalks, washroom facilities, a visitor centre, a nursery, and an arboretum to showcase “exotic” plant material.

The project included development of the 10% detailed design drawings and sections, grading plans, plant lists, costing, and the list of relevant specifications. The Eco-Park’s conceptual landscape design elements included: Park Facilities, Park Programming, Ecological Habitat Planning, Visitor Services and Amenity Requirements, and Conceptual Topographical Layout. The Eco-Park design supports the long-term policy goals in the JIC 2010 Master Plan Update with respect to the local economy, environment and livability, enhancing JIC’s national and international sustainability status.
