Billy Weston Brook Flood Assessment and Flood Mapping Study – St. Stephen, NB

Dillon was retained by the St. Croix Estuary Project (SCEP) and the Town of St. Stephen to investigate the historical flooding of Billy Weston Brook in St. Stephen, New Brunswick.

The study involved hydrologic simulation of the Billy Weston Brook watershed, and hydraulic simulation of the study reach. The hydraulic simulation was completed using the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Hydrologic Engineering Center River Analysis System (HEC-RAS). The simulation included three hydraulic structures located along the study reach.

The hydraulic model developed for the study included simulation of structure performance for a range of low-frequency flood events (25, 50 and 100-year flood flows). Conceptual level upgrade alternatives for each hydraulic crossing were also presented.
