National Indigenous Peoples Day

June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada. It is a day to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. It takes place on the summer solstice (the longest day of the year), which has long been a time of celebration of culture for Indigenous Peoples and communities.

Dillon’s Mission is to empower passionate people to create better solutions. One of our Indigenous partners has established an Indigenous led, staffed, and owned consulting firm, SOAR Professional Services LP. As a minority partner, Dillon is fully committed to empowering and supporting the Indigenous owners of SOAR, through our technical expertise, to build their own firm that connects Indigenous communities with the future of engineering to propel lasting change. Supporting the creation and development of SOAR is a meaningful step towards reconciliation. With their deep understanding of the diverse traditions and cultures of Indigenous communities, SOAR’s Indigenous staff have autonomy over their careers and are committed to capturing Indigenous community perspectives in all the work they do.
