Paul Schaap Appointed to City of Richmond Economic Advisory Committee

Paul Schaap was appointed to the City of Richmond’s Economic Advisory Committee. The committee provides feedback and advice on economic development strategic planning issues and initiatives. As the fourth largest city in British Columbia, Richmond is experiencing a remarkable transformation from a rural, local community to an international city with significant development in the downtown core and waterfront areas spurred on by the rapid transit system constructed in advance of the 2010 winter olympics. The City supports over 135,000 jobs in high tech, retail, aviation, transportation, tourism, service, manufacturing, and agriculture.

Paul is a project manager and partner with more than 30 years of professional experience. Much of Paul’s project experience has been tied to the planning, construction and operational aspects of linear infrastructure, resource developments, and urban development projects. He has worked extensively for the engineering, parks and planning departments of many Lower Mainland municipalities for more than two decades, delivering both proactive and responsive assignments to address environmental issues.  He is an active member of the City of Richmond community serving on Boards and Committees of a number of community organizations since 1997.
