Rail Safety Week 2018, sponsored by Operation Lifesaver, will be held September 23-29, 2018. Given the number of preventable trespassing accidents and accidents at railway crossings across Canada, we want to remind everyone to keep safety top of mind around railroads. Please observe all laws when driving over railway crossings and be aware of your surroundings. Stay off the railway tracks; it may seem like a shortcut, but it is not worth gambling with your life.
Operation Lifesaver is a national public rail-safety program sponsored by Transport Canada, the Railway Association of Canada and its members. Through partnerships with provincial safety councils, police, the trucking industry and community groups, Operation Lifesaver works to save lives by educating Canadians about the hazards associated with rail crossings and trespassing on railway property.
