Dillon Celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Day

June 21st, 2018 marks National Indigenous Peoples Day (NIPD). Dillon will celebrate with our colleagues and clients across Canada. This year Dillon participated in Call to Action #92: Business and Reconciliation, outlined by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. This Call to Action encourages the corporate sector in Canada to adopt the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as a reconciliation framework and to apply its principles, norms and standards to corporate policy and core operational activities involving Indigenous peoples and their lands and resources.

NIPD was announced in 1996 by then Governor General of Canada, Roméo LeBlanc and falls on June 21st each year. This holiday is observed in every region across Canada, celebrating the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

Dillon collaborates with Indigenous communities across Canada on economic development; community plans; traditional knowledge and land use occupancy studies; environmental assessments; and rehabilitation and new construction of roads and water, wastewater and waste management systems. As a major provider of services to Indigenous communities, we continue to strengthen our relationships by exploring and putting into action opportunities to support the Call to Action.

We wish you all the best on this important day.
