We're in the midst of unprecedented times. The coronavirus (COVID-19) is impacting people and companies throughout the world and there is growing impact on the global economy in response to Wednesday’s declaration by the World Health Organization that the COVID-19 has reached pandemic status.
While we will learn more about this outbreak over the next few days and weeks, Dillon’s immediate priority is the health and safety of our employees and our clients, while continuing to serve our clients effectively. Today we want to share an update on the steps we are taking during this outbreak while continuing to protect our employees and service our clients.
We are putting measures in place because we know it is the responsible thing to do - for our employees, our business, our clients and our communities. A reminder to everyone - Make good decisions. Wash your hands. Don't touch your face. Maintain social distance. If you exhibit any cold/flu symptoms - stay home.
We have been communicating regularly with our employees to ensure a strong awareness of the coronavirus including hygiene and standard precautions. We are encouraging employees to take advantage of our flexible work options so they can work from home, avoid transit and remain productive and interactive in their home environment. Effective immediately, meetings for over 25 people will be converted to virtual platforms or cancelled. Employees are asked to self-isolate if they have travelled to, or have been in contact with, anyone who has travelled to any of the countries on the Canadian Travel Advisory watch list. We are working closely with our Office Managers and property managers to ensure our office locations are regularly cleaned and sanitized.
Effective immediately, we have also cancelled all non-essential air and rail travel and employees will not attend external events where social distance can not be maintained until further notice.
Working collaboratively between offices is how we do business. As a result we already have effective and innovative systems to enable working remotely and collaborating virtually. This enables us to continue to provide our clients guidance, service and support as they too manage through these unprecedented times. Undoubtedly these new challenges will result in additional innovation and we will continue to learn, evolve, adapt and improve upon the ways that we serve our clients.
