Halton and Dillon Recognized with 2016 Award of Excellence

The Regional Municipality of Halton and Dillon Consulting were recognized by the Centre for Advancement of Trenchless Technologies (CATT) with the project of the year award for the Boyne Trunk Sanitary Sewer project in Halton Region, Ontario.

The project included an environmental assessment and subsequent design and construction phases for 8.65 km of large diameter (up to 2400 mm) gravity sanitary sewers, with approximately 5 km of pipe installed via trenchless methods. The contractors employed three tunnel boring machines (TBMs) concurrently and completed two crossing using tunnel liner plate (TLP) with handmining.

The project, commissioned in 2016, has also been awarded the 2016 Civil - Infrastructure Project of the Year Award by the Hamilton/ Halton Engineering Week Committee; 2016 Project of the Year Award in the Environment (>$50M) Category by the Ontario Public Works Association; 2017 Award of Excellence for firms with 101-350 Ontario employees by Consulting Engineers of Ontario.
