The East Side Road Authority was mandated by the Province of Manitoba to undertake the East Side Transportation Initiative. It includes the construction of 1028 km of all-season roads, and associated bridges. This new transportation network will provide safe and reliable service to 13 First Nation communities on the east side of Lake Winnipeg to provincial roads.
Dillon has been involved in four of the seven projects under this East Side Transportation Initiative.
Project 1 - PR 304 to Berens River First Nation
Dillon in partnering with AECOM and KGS is providing construction administration services for the construction of 156 km of all-season roads and 10 bridges. The bridge contracts include six single-span and four multi-span bridges. The construction started in 2011 and will be completed in 2017.
Project 3 - St. Theresa Point First Nation to Wasagamack First Nation to Garden Hill First Nation to Red Sucker Lake First Nation
Dillon is providing functional design and re-alignment of 153 km of all-season roads and 12+ bridges and culverts. Under Project 3a Contract, Dillon is providing detailed design for 37 km of all-season roads and the Kamatapkitchiwak Creek Bridge between St. Theresa Point First Nation to Wasagamack First Nation.
Project 4 - Berens River First Nation to Poplar River First Nation
Dillon is conducting the environmental impact assessment and public consultation for 93 km of all-season roads and four major bridges.
Project 7a - Pauingassi First Nation and Little Grand Rapids First Nation
Dillon is providing functional and detailed designs of 40 km of all-season roads, one major Acrow Bridge and one minor Acrow Bridge between Pauingassi First Nation and Little Grand Rapids First Nation under the Project 7a Contract. Relocation of the an existing airport is included in this assignment.
This project was honoured with an Award of Excellence by the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies Manitoba in 2018.
