Dillon environmental scientists and engineers presented posters at the 2018 Real Estate Property Institute of Canada Federal Contaminated Sites National Workshop in Toronto, ON. The workshop was “a forum for the contaminated sites community to learn about technical, scientific and organizational innovations, and best practices for the management of contaminated sites.

Posters included:

• “Brownfield Redevelopment of Former Public Works Yard, Winnipeg, MB” - an overview of a brownfield project that involved a unique partnering of the City of Winnipeg and a private developer, to undertake the redevelopment of a former City of Winnipeg impacted property. This project was Dillon’s first successful funding award under the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Green Municipal Fund. Pictured to the right is the area of the site. 
• “Assessing the Vulnerability of Drinking Water Supplies at Canadian Forces Bases Across Canada” - discussed key considerations in vulnerability assessments at federal sites.
• “How Not to Find Water Lines on First Nation Reserves and What to Do When You Do: A Case Study of a Waterline Break at Kehewin Cree Nation” - an illustration that a) followed standard industry practice for utility locates is not always enough to avoid hitting an underground utility; b) showed that best response is proactive and solution oriented; and c) engaged the stakeholders throughout the project facilitates cooperation and support during an emergency.
