City of Hamilton Presented Centennial Parkway Secondary Plan

A new long-term vision for the Centennial Neighbourhoods area was presented to stakeholders recently. The City of Hamilton (City) retained Dillon to prepare the study for the 300 ha area that includes Eastgate Square, one of Hamilton’s largest shopping malls, and a range of areas that include commercial, light industrial and residential uses. The area is expected to undergo significant change in the coming decade as Metrolinx will be adding a new GO rail station (Confederation Station) in 2019 and the City’s long-term plan to extend its LRT to Eastgate Square. The study envisions intensification and pedestrian-oriented development along Centennial Parkway and Queenston Road, with streetscape improvements and new public spaces to activate and reinvigorate the corridors.
