Andrew Blackmer Presented at CIM - NB May Technical Session

Andrew Blackmer presented at the Canadian Institute of Mining (CIM), Metallurgy and Petroleum New Brunswick Branch’s May Technical Session on the 17th in Fredericton, NB. The session focused on awareness for the potential of unconventional gas in the province. Andy’s presentation “Water Management in Unconventional Gas Development - An Overview”, describing how water is used in the hydraulic fracturing process, included a discussion of the chemical make-up of formation and flow-back waters. 

Andy is a partner and professional geoscientist with over 30 years’ experience. He has been directly involved in the onshore oil and gas industry in the Maritimes for the past eight years. He has spoken on a number of occasions on topics relating to horizontal drilling, hydrofracking and water management as well as some of the related risks, issues and how those are being mitigated as the oil and gas industry evolves.
