Dillon is pleased to have been selected by Waterfront Toronto to complete the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) for Project: Under Gardiner. This project is city-defining for Toronto, ON, creating a new precedent for the meaning of 'public space'.
Built around the concrete bones of the Gardiner Expressway, between Stratchan Ave. and Bathurst St., the project will transform a derelict public space into outdoor “rooms,” which will include interactive recreational spaces, a multi-use trail, a grand staircase, market space and other social gathering spaces. Dillon previously developed the Gardiner East Expressway Individual EA and Urban Design Study for Waterfront Toronto. Dillon's team is made up of engineers, planners and environmental scientists experienced in EA, urban design, infrastructure, natural environment, transportation, heritage and archaeology.
This project has an expected completion date of August 2016. The first public meeting for this project was Thursday April 7th at the Waterfront Community Centre at Bathurst St. and Queens Quay.
