Kaya Sabag presented at the Transportation Research Board (TRB) 95th Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, alongside a senior policy planner from Metrolinx. The presentation covered strategies to incorporate broader themes in transit investment prioritization and decision-making, with lessons learned in the context of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). It was one of four presentations as part of the panel discussion "'Shiny and New' or 'Tried and True': Expansion Versus Reinvestment Dilemma of Transportation Agencies".
The presentation outlined a paper co-authored by Kaya and staff from Metrolinx, WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff, and Steer Davies Gleave, discussing practical solutions for incorporating broader themes such as congestion, multimodal integration, regional competitiveness, project interdependencies, and network effects into project prioritization.
