The City of Saskatoon has selected Dillon to develop waste diversion strategies to help kick-start efforts to reduce the amount of waste at local landfills. The City has an ambitious target to divert 70% of waste from landfills through other methods including recycling and composting. Approximately 21% of waste is currently being diverted.
Dillon will study current conditions, including an examination of materials that are delivered to the two private landfills near the city, waste from businesses, and changes in consumer behaviours. Dillon has done similar studies for municipalities across Canada however this will be the first conducted for the City of Saskatoon.
