Paul Schaap Re-Appointed to City of Richmond Economic Advisory Committee

Paul Schaap was recently re-appointed to the City of Richmond’s Economic Advisory Committee for a second consecutive two-year term through 2020. The Committee provides City Council with feedback and advice on economic development strategic planning issues and initiatives supporting economic sustainability. As the fourth largest city in British Columbia, Richmond is experiencing a remarkable transformation from its historic roots as a rural, fishing and farming community, to a culturally diverse and geographically unique international city. Richmond supports over 135,000 jobs in high tech, retail, aviation, transportation, tourism, service, manufacturing, and agriculture. The City is also home to Canada’s largest commercial fishing harbour and a robust film industry. The strategic growth of Richmond’s business and employment base is high on Council and the Committee’s agenda.

Paul is a project manager and partner with more than 30 years of professional experience. Much of Paul’s project experience has been tied to the planning, construction and operations of linear infrastructure, resource development, and urban development projects. He has worked extensively for the engineering, parks and planning departments of many Lower Mainland municipalities for more than two decades delivering both proactive and responsive assignments to address environmental issues.  He is an active member of the City of Richmond community serving on Boards and Committees of a number of community organizations since 1997.
