Kenaston Bridge Featured in Advantage Steel

The Kenaston Bridge was featured in the Fall 2018 volume of Advantage Steel. The article provides an overview of the unique challenges and solutions faced by the project team (City of Winnipeg, Dillon Consulting Limited, Capitol Steel, and M.D. Steele Construction Limited). The bridge is the first flyover (grade-separation) structure of its kind to be used in Winnipeg, and consists of a 105 m long two-span structure over Kenaston Boulevard. The new flyover structure facilitates uninterrupted travel along the extended Kenaston Boulevard while facilitating efficient movement of traffic on Bishop Grandin Boulevard, another major arterial route in the city.

The bridge was completed as part of the City of Winnipeg’s Waverley West Arterial Roads Project that comprises over 40 lane-kilometres of high speed roadway connecting Kenaston to P.T.H. 100 including the 105 m overpass structure. The bridge was honoured by the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) with a 2017 Regional Steel Design Award in the bridges category.
