Royal Caribbean Cruises and Southern Power Partner for Sustainability

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Southern Power (a subsidiary of Southern Company) have partnered to develop the 200 MW Reading Wind Facility. “This initiative, which will offset 12 percent of Royal Caribbean’s emissions beginning in 2020, is the latest addition to the company’s extensive sustainability efforts… to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through innovations at sea and in port.” Dillon worked with Southern Power to develop the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) documentation and provided Validation support for the Reading Wind Facility. This is the first US-based large-scale wind power project to be successfully registered with the VCS since 2014.
