Canadian Pacific and Dillon Co-presented at 19th Railroad Environmental Conference

Joe Van Humbeck (Canadian Pacific) and David Poole (Dillon) co-presented a case study at the 19th Railroad Environmental Conference held at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on October 24, 2017. The presentation “Development of a Risk Management Plan (RMP), Proposed Light Rail Transit (LRT) Corridor along Canadian Pacific ROW in Calgary, Alberta” illustrated the emerging challenges railways in Canada and United States face as municipalities strive for the highest, best and safest use of lands adjacent to rail corridors while ensuring railways meet their obligations to service their customers.

The presentation, based on a collaborative-based risk management process utilized to develop a Risk Management Plan, covered the closure of one at-grade crossing, ensuring proximity issues between rail operations and LRT were addressed and supported various agreements that were developed between both parties.
