On October 13, 2017, Dillon partnered with McMaster University to present an I2 Science Workshop (Indigenous Science/Integrated Science) workshop for 50 Indigenous high school students. This is the second time that Dillon and McMaster have partnered to deliver a workshop for Indigenous students after a very successful workshop in May 2017.
The program included an introduction to McMaster’s Indigenous Centre with technical science sessions on forensics, groundwater health and integrated science. Case studies of traditional knowledge improving earth and environmental science applications and a special presentation of the Six Nations Celestial Bear story in the Planetarium were included. Discussions of undergraduate options with current university students and career opportunities with those in industry were provided throughout the day.
Heather Stuart (Dillon) co-hosted the workshop with Carolyn Eyles (McMaster University), along with Heather Swan (Dillon) and Rebekah Ingram (Dillon).
