Kingsclear First Nation and Dillon Present at 2017 Atlantic Planner’s Institute Conference

Members of Kingsclear First Nation, along with Stephen Stone and Julie DiCicco of Dillon present at the 2017 Atlantic Planners Institute (API) Conference on Thursday, September 28, 2017, in Charlottetown, PEI. The presentation is a case study in Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation Planning: How Municipalities Can Quantifiably Determine Infrastructure Risk to Inform Policy. It focuses on how the project team determined infrastructure risk to climate change by using Engineer Canada’s Public Infrastructure Engineering Vulnerability Committee protocol. Kingsclear First Nation and Dillon were the first to apply this protocol to an entire community project in Canada.

Kingsclear First Nation retained Dillon to complete a Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation Plan for the community. The project identified infrastructure components and services that are vulnerable to climate change. This information was used to develop informed adaptation measures that promote resiliency in the community.
