Bill 122, Registered Professional Planners Act Second Reading

Ann Joyner, acting as the Chair of the Professional Regulations Strategy Group of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute, introduced the Second Reading of Bill 122, Registered Professionals Planners Act, 2017 Second Reading at a press conference with Hon. Peter Milczyn, Member of Parliament for Etobicoke Lakeshore, on May 11, 2017. The Act was introduced to parliament on April 12, 2017 by the Hon. Milczyn.

Bill 122 replaces the Ontario Professional Planners Institute Act, 1994 and is the first significant change in the past 25 years. The new Bill updates the definition of Registered Professional Planner, governs the title of Professional Planner and provides hold-out provisions for planners. Bill 122 will formally make the planning profession accountable to the government, as well as the public and ensure the healthy growth of Ontario cities.

Ann is a partner and planner at Dillon with over 20 years of experience specializing in environmental assessment, strategic growth management, sustainable design and corporate environmental management. The Canadian Institute of Planners inducted Ann to the College of Fellows in 2016. The College of Fellows is the highest honour a planner in Canada can receive.
