Dillon presented recommendations for 17 new vistas and management of 29 existing vistas along the Niagara Escarpment for the Mountain Brow Vista Study and Management Plan at a stakeholder meeting in September. The City of Hamilton is gathering input from public meetings and is planning to bring the project before Council in November.
Dillon was retained to develop a corridor management plan along the Niagara Escarpment that provides a long-term strategy for managing the natural heritage, urban forest and inherent vistas along the East Mountain of the city. Strategies were developed with the understanding of policies to protect and restrict impacts to the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, slope stability considerations, natural environment assessment, tourist and recreational draws and community input.
