Fire and Emergency Planner

Location: Toronto

Responsibilities:

• Contribution to the coordination of fire master plans, facility location assessments and fire and emergency services reviews

• Assistance with the facilitation of public and stakeholder consultation sessions and presentations to various councils and senior staff

• Assistance with business development activities including client meetings, proposals, reports and presentations

• Business travel upon request

Qualifications:

• A degree in planning, civil engineering or geography/urban studies

• Full or provisional membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and OPPI or eligibility to be registered as an Engineer-in-Training in the province of Ontario

• Zero to two years of professional experience, preferably in the consulting industry

Experience:

• Experience with fire master plans, facility location assessments and fire and emergency services reviews

• Understanding of fire department/emergency medical services operations and services

• Experience in GIS-based transportation modeling including network analyst extension

• Experience with statistical analysis and database management (Excel, Access, etc.)

• Familiarity with:

- National Fire Protection Agency Standards

- Office of the Fire Marshal Ontario Guidelines

• Understanding of municipal government structures, processes and legislation

• Demonstrated success in multidisciplinary teams

• Demonstrated success in the delivery of presentations

• Strong communication, report/proposal writing, organization and interpersonal skills
