Community Regeneration Leader

Dillon is a well established, employee-owned professional consulting firm operating across Canada and internationally. We provide a wide range of consulting and design services related to the infrastructure, real estate, resource, industrial and government sectors in Canada and abroad. We are currently seeking candidates for the position of community regeneration leader in our Toronto office.

The field of community regeneration is not only technically challenging, it also requires innovation and creativity in the regulatory and financial aspects of project development. And it requires the vision to see what is possible when others can’t. While our definition of community regeneration includes brownfield redevelopment, it goes well beyond that to include the functional repositioning of urban neighbourhoods, redevelopment projects and industrial and commercial revitalization. Dillon has an enviable track record of involvement in many of Canada’s most significant regeneration projects and programs, and has demonstrated the technical savvy and political acumen necessary to achieve success on behalf of our clients. We now want to elevate our profile and focus greater effort on this important aspect of city-building. The community regeneration leader will have that mandate.

The particular responsibilities will be tailored to the strengths of the successful candidate, and encompass the further development of our in-house team which includes a full array of planners, engineers, geoscientists, environmental scientists, risk assessors, traffic and transportation experts, architects, landscape architects, consultation experts, etc. Other responsibilities include developing/maintaining solid relationships with firms/individuals with complementary skills, developing a business strategy for the regeneration practice in consultation with client managers for our government and real estate clients, developing and executing projects, and profile building with the various stakeholders and players in the regeneration market. All of this is intended to extend our current reach and move Dillon to the next level in this field.

The qualifications needed to be successful in the role go well beyond technical training, and we are looking beyond that in our selection. Character, enthusiasm, knowledge, experience, consulting skill and the ability to lead are attributes we are searching for. However, a degree in planning and/or engineering, with a minimum of 15 year's of relevant experience in urban regeneration projects and policy, are expected to be part of your resume.
